Clarify the evidence required
Ask whether the receiving organisation needs the degree certificate, academic transcript, a verification letter or a combination. Check whether it requires the original or a certified copy, and whether it specifies a notary rather than a solicitor.
Arrange the right certification
GOV.UK lists qualification certificates among documents that can be legalised after suitable certification by a UK public official such as a notary or solicitor. The certification should fit the actual document and the recipient’s request.
Consider the electronic route carefully
An eligible qualification document may be considered for the UK e-Apostille process when prepared as the required electronically signed PDF. Confirm both preparation and recipient requirements. Do not assume an uploaded photograph or ordinary scan qualifies.
Make the first enquiry useful
Tell us the awarding institution, qualification name, country of use and deadline. Provide the recipient’s written instructions if you have them. If the qualification was issued outside the UK, identify that clearly so the appropriate route can be considered.
Common questions
Does an apostille prove my qualification is recognised abroad?
No. Recognition and professional registration are separate questions for the employer, education provider or regulator.
Should I send my transcript as well?
Only when it is required. Ask whether the recipient wants each document separately certified and legalised.
