Fees & timing

Know what is included before you proceed.

A complete quote depends on the document and the work it needs. Ask for the professional fee, official legalisation fee and delivery costs to be identified before you proceed.

Government fees are one part of the total

The FCDO publishes its direct application fees on GOV.UK. These are not the same as a notary’s fee or a managed service price. Preparation, certification, translation and courier services may add separate costs.

Request a case-specific quote

Tell us what the documents are and where they will be used. We will confirm current service availability, explain the proposed work and provide a quote before you decide whether to proceed.

Compare the complete timetable

The official processing period starts at the relevant processing stage. It does not include every step needed to obtain, prepare or deliver a document. Complex signature checks and the recipient’s extra requirements may extend the total time.

What your quote should make clear

  • Which documents and certification are included.
  • The chosen legalisation service and official charges.
  • Any translation, postage or courier costs.
  • Tax treatment where applicable.
  • The expected timetable and any dependencies.

Common questions

Can I pay the government fee directly?

Yes, direct applications are available on GOV.UK. You may still need appropriate document preparation or professional certification first.

Why is the final price higher than the official apostille fee?

A managed service may include assessment, certification, handling and delivery. Ask for the components of your quote so you can compare like for like.
